2008 Elections, the Dust Settles

A sweeping review of the election highlights: Obama wins Florida by 200,000 votes and 2.5%. Dems pick up two seats in Congress while Cheatin' Mahoney loses his Democratic seat. Dems gain only one seat in the State House and none in the Senate. Nationwide, voter turnout is 62.4%, second highest in modern times and almost eclipsing 1964's Johnson-Goldwater 62.6%. Latino vote was up 24% over 2004 and voted lopsided 68% for Obama. Meanwhile, Washington state passed a watered down assisted-suicide law, California ordered larger cages for farm animals, Michigan and Massachussets decriminalized marijuana, Massachussets and North Dakota voted 70% to retain their state income taxes. But the Bible Thumping assholes slapped constitutional bans on gay marriage in California (52%) , Arizona and Florida (64%).
